Calgary has moved forward with renewed ambition and clear vision for the future under Jyoti’s leadership. By driving economic growth, attracting global investment, and making daily life more affordable for Calgarians, Jyoti has shown how purposeful leadership delivers real results. From revitalizing downtown and launching the Prairie Economic Gateway - a revolutionary future inland port – to bold housing solutions and major infrastructure projects, she has guided the city through challenges while building a future full of opportunity.

Jyoti has shown what leadership, on purpose, can deliver:

ECONOMIC GROWTH

Initiated several programs to drive the economy including downtown revitalization and Prairie Economic Gateway, an inland port project that unlocks 30,000 jobs, $7 billion in impact and positions Calgary as a global trade and manufacturing hub. Jyoti’s bold leadership also helped spur $15 billion in construction activity over the next three to five years. Jyoti championed downtown revitalization, attracting new industries, major investment, and global recognition for Calgary’s momentum.

PUBLIC SAFETY

Public safety is at the heart of Jyoti’s vision for Calgary. She championed the Safer Calgary Initiative, which integrates Calgary Police Service (CPS), Peace Officers, and community outreach teams. This initiative is already delivering results, including 29 people charged with 160 drug and weapons offences within just two months earlier this year. Jyoti also fought for and re-established a downtown police station, expanded visible patrols, and committed to keeping neighbourhoods safer through fire hall investments, improved response times, and action on disorder in public spaces and on transit.

AFFORDABILITY

Jyoti has taken bold action to make life more affordable. She rolled out innovative housing strategies, including a modular housing pilot with Attainable Homes Calgary and advocating for a program that incents safe secondary suites. She has also pushed for expanding low-income transit passes and protected low-income recreation access, and championed investments in community facilities like splash pads, and hockey rinks. Jyoti’s leadership has ensured Calgarians are seeing real relief in their daily lives while laying the foundation for long-term affordability.

DOWNTOWN RENEWAL

Calgary’s downtown is being reimagined for the future. Jyoti’s leadership delivered 11 office-to- residential conversions, creating more than 1,500 new homes and boosting property values by $1.8 billion. These efforts drew international attention, with the San Francisco Chronicle praising Calgary’s renewal under Jyoti’s leadership as a model for cities across North America. There are ten more projects in the pipeline, with over 1,100 more homes to come.

HOUSING

Under Jyoti’s leadership, Calgary has become a national leader in housing solutions by driving record housing starts, through a variety of initiatives including: converting empty downtown offices into homes, dedicating city land and funding to non-market providers, and cutting red tape. Jyoti also ensured that both market and affordable housing options are prioritized to keep Calgary accessible to all families.

PROVEN LEADERSHIP

From guiding Calgary through the June 2024 water emergency with calm, transparent communication, to protecting the economy against international trade threats, Jyoti has proven she is a trusted leader with clarity, vision, and resolve. Her leadership earned national recognition when she was named Municipal World’s inaugural Mayor of the Year, honouring her steady hand in times of crisis and her bold vision for Calgary’s future.

My Plan for Calgary’s Future

I’m working hard for Calgarians. Making our streets safer, improving transit, and securing funding for the infrastructure we rely on every day. Clean water, safe roads, affordable homes, great parks, and strong emergency services aren’t extras. They’re essentials.

From leading during a major water crisis to protecting Calgary’s economy from international trade threats, I’ve delivered steady, proven leadership in challenging times. I’m also focused on building what’s next by revitalizing our downtown, strengthening our energy future, and investing in public safety, affordability, and community services.

My commitment is to protect what matters and grow what’s possible. Together, we can build a city where everyone has a home they love, in a neighbourhood they can afford.

Over the course of this campaign, I will release a complete policy document that lays out my plan for Calgary’s future. As each policy is introduced, this page will be updated with the details, so you can see exactly how my vision comes to life.

Public Safety

Building Safe Streets & Strong Communities

Calgarians deserve to feel safe. Whether that’s downtown, in their neighbourhoods or on the roads that connect us. Jyoti Gondek has listened to Calgarians, to families, first responders, and frontline workers, and she’s ready to act with purpose. Her plan balances prevention and presence, supporting revitalization, emergency response, and long-term safety for every community.

Make downtown safe for everyone.
From pledging to end open drug use to strengthening and integrating visible peace officer and police patrols, Jyoti is taking bold steps to restore vibrancy and safety in our core. This also includes opening a downtown police station, focusing on working with community courts for drug offenses, and funding downtown outreach teams.
Keep neighbourhoods safe and supported.
Jyoti will continue to invest in community fire halls, and cut emergency response times to ensure families feel protected close to home. All by fighting for and ensuring that first responders and neighbourhoods get the supports and resources they deserve.
Make Calgary’s streets safer for all.
With traffic deaths on the rise, Jyoti is leading urgent investments in crosswalk upgrades, traffic calming, enforcement and street design improvements to prevent collisions and protect pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers alike, while keeping disruptions to commuters to a minimum.
